War of Genesis Farming Guide

Use clear qualitative signals to decide whether to advance, stay, or step back while farming for progression, gear, or marketable drops.

The useful farming question is not “Which stage is always best?” It is “Which available stage advances my current goal with acceptable reliability and effort?”

Define the farming job

Before choosing a stage, name the job: unlock progression, strengthen a build, replace a gear slot, gather upgrade inputs, or find drops that may deserve a manual market check. Do not combine unlike goals into one vague efficiency score.

Advance, stay, or step back

Advance when

  • Your current clears are repeatable rather than fragile.
  • The next stage supports the same goal more directly.
  • A test run does not require constant rescue or drain the resources you meant to build.

Stay when

  • Current runs are reliable and still produce goal-relevant progress.
  • A recent gear or build change needs a stable comparison baseline.
  • Moving forward adds friction without a clear benefit you can observe.

Step back when

  • Failures, long stalls, or interruptions make results inconsistent.
  • Inventory management or recovery time dominates the session.
  • Your current setup needs a focused gear improvement before another push.

Compare runs without false precision

Use the same session conditions when possible. Record the goal, build, stage, whether clears completed reliably, which drops were useful, and what interrupted the run. Compare patterns over repeated sessions; a single lucky drop is not a rate.

This guide intentionally does not publish drop rates, hourly profit, expected value, or a universal best stage. Those claims require reviewed structured data and patch-aware player evidence.

Factor in gear goals

A farming stage is valuable when its outcomes support the build you are actually using or building toward. Revisit the Builds hub if your desired play style changes, and keep a reliable setup while testing new equipment.

Factor in market value carefully

Potential market value is one input, not the whole farming decision. First confirm the item is eligible in Steam’s current interface. Then compare its progression value with estimated Steam Wallet proceeds—without assuming a displayed listing is a completed sale or a profit guarantee.

Use the Steam Market guide for the decision flow and the fee calculator for a policy-based proceeds estimate.

Your next decision

After recording a stable farming baseline, review the Steam Market guide before treating any eligible drop as a sale candidate.

Quick answers

Frequently asked questions

Which War of Genesis stage is best for farming?

There is no supported universal answer in this MVP. The better stage depends on your current goal, clear reliability, run effort, inventory pressure, and the gear your build can use.

How should I compare two farming stages?

Test them under similar conditions and record clear reliability, useful drops, interruptions, and whether each stage advances the goal you chose.
